Awards and Fellowships

WCRP/WWRP International Prize for Model Development, Award annually for an outstanding contribution to weather and climate model development by an early- to mid-career researcher. Application deadline expired.

WCRP/GCOS International Data Prize, Award annually to honour achievements in (climate) data product generation, data management, data preservation, data monitoring, and other data relevant activities by an early- to mid-career researcher.  Application deadline expired.

CliSAP Wladimir-Peter-Köppen-Award for Climate and Earth System Sciences 2017 (only German!), Award with 5000 € annually for outstanding doctoral theses in German-speaking countries, candidates must not be older than 30.  Application deadline expired.

Branco Weiss Fellowship, funding of 100,000 Francs per year to cover research. The eligible people must be have a PhD and projects that depart from the mainstream of research in their disciplines. Application deadline: 15 January 2018.

British Academy Visiting Fellowship, funding of 33,000 British pounds to cover subsistence, accommodation costs, research expenses and travel expenses. The fellows must be ECS with a recent PhD degree, mid- career researchers or established academics with a considerable track-record of achievement. Application deadline: 31 January 2018.

Living Planet Fellowship, funding of 99,000 Euros per 2-years to carry out a research project at a host institution from a ESA Member State. The main objective of this initiative is to support young researchers who have a doctoral degree and who would like to initiate a scientific career in the context of Earth Observation and Earth system science. Application deadline: 22 February 2018.
