YESS member has been selected to be part of the GASS panel

Last December, YESS community and the Global Atmospheric System Studies (GASS) decided to launch a call to the YESS Community for an ECRs to be appointed as a member of GASS panel. GASS is an initiative from the Global Energy and Water Exchanges (GEWEX) project of the World Climate Research Programme (WCRP). During the application period, we received 10 excellent applications from YESS members from four continents whose research backgrounds fit with the themes of the GASS panel. A committee of four YESS members evaluated the applications received and shortlisted three candidates to be considered for this position. The final selection of the candidate has been made by the GASS panel.

The GASS panel has recently made a decision and selected Dr. Carla Gulizia, from Argentina, as a new GASS panel member for the next three years. As part of her appointment, Carla will foster the connection between early career researchers, the YESS community and the GASS panel. We congratulate Carla for being elected for this position. We hope that her participation in GASS panel will encourage more ECRs to be involved in GASS activities as well as in YESS.

We would like to thank GEWEX and GASS panel, and especially GASS co-chairs Daniel Klocke and Xubin Zeng, for promoting the participation of ECRs in leadership activities and we are looking forward to participating in further ones. We also hope that in the future more international programmes and panels can follow GASS in this initiative. For years, YESS has been working hard to foster ECRs presence in international programmes. We are glad to see our efforts are being materialized.
