YESS-YHS Early Career Researcher (ECR) Workshop 2018

Joint YESS-YHS Early Career Researcher (ECR) Workshop 2018

Towards Regional Information to Improve Our Understanding on Weather, Water and Climate Extreme Events’

3-5 May 2018, Canmore, Alberta, Canada

The Young Earth System Scientists (YESS) and Young Hydrologic Society (YHS) are holding a Joint YESS-YHS Early Career Researcher (ECR) Workshop prior to the 2018 GEWEX Science Conference. The objective of the 3-day workshop is to bring together early career researchers and students to have an in-depth interdisciplinary discussion about enhancing the generation of usable regional information on different spatial and temporal scales, and the utility of that information by users, decision makers, and other stakeholders. In this sense, a special emphasis will be made on how weather, water and climate extreme events change and how new data sources and modeling approaches can advance our understanding (and management). The workshop will further serve to evaluate what the early career communities have achieved in recent years, how they can enhance their interaction, and foster collaborations with other early career networks.

The workshop is kindly supported by GEWEX, the World Climate Research Programme (WCRP) and the World Meteorological Organisation (WMO).

DEADLINE to submit abstract: 15 January 2017**

**The abstract submission deadline for the 2018 GEWEX Science Conference & ECR Workshop has been extended until we reach our maximum number of registrants or until 15 January 2018 (11:59 pm PST), whichever threshold is crossed first. To ensure your attendance, please register and submit your abstract soon.

HOW TO APPLY: Online, more information here*.
