The four YESS Working Groups (WG) are seeking for members for
April 2019 – April 2020!
Join the outreach WG, the online-events WG, the membership WG, or the science WG.

Being part of a YESS Working Group will enable you to further develop skills in addition to your academic career, as well as to gain experience to conduct activities on an international level and to expand your network on a global scale within the Earth system science community.

The Outreach WG safeguards the YESS branding and aims to ensure that YESS is presented in a unified way globally. The WG develops brochures, documents, publishes newsletters and keeps YESS active on social media (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn).

The Outreach WG is looking for 3 to 4 new members to expand the team for the 2019 term (April 2019 – April 2020).
In particular, we seek YESS members that would like to help with:
The development of the YESS newsletter (3 per year) (expected workload: ~3-4 hrs per month).
Updating outreach material such as the poster, our flyer and welcome presentation (expected workload: 4-10hrs to update/develop each material over the course of 6-8 months).
Posting news and opportunities in our social media channels (expected workload: ~10-15 min/per day).

The Online Events WG focuses on enabling early career scientists from all over the world the opportunity to participate in online training courses and seminars related to the widely understood Earth System Science (ESS). The idea behind organization of topical online events is not only to provide knowledge and expertise but also to give opportunity to exchange skills and experience. The Online Events WG is looking for 3 to 4 members to expand the team for the 2019 term (April 2019 – April 2020). In particular, we seek YESS members that would like to help with:
Organisation of webinar series (expected workload: ~3-5 hrs per month).
Initiate and develop new online formats to share research and/or that foster the development of research skills (expected workload: ~4-8 hrs per month).

The Membership/Website WG deals with questions about the members and membership in the YESS community, including the registration process and questions how to get involved more actively in the community. Furthermore, the working group is responsible for the YESS website, the public content, as well as the development and maintenance.

The Membership WG is looking for 3 members to expand the team for the 2019 term (April 2019 – April 2020). In particular, we seek YESS members that would like to help with:
Membership management (approval process of YESS members and maintenance of member database) (expected workload: 3 hrs per month).
Website technical aspects (wordpress website, updates, technical aspects of website development and maintenance) (expected workload: 4-8 hrs per month).
Develop new ways to recruit and involve new YESS members (expected workload: 4-8 hrs per month).

The Science WG identifies, initiates and coordinates potential scientific collaborations integrating the interdisciplinary expertise and geographical distribution of the YESS community members. The working group is relatively new and is further defining it’s activities – become part of this exciting opportunity to further enhance interdisciplinary science activities among Early Career Researchers (ECRs).

The Science WG is looking for 3 to 4 members to expand the team for the 2019 term (April 2019 – April 2020). In particular, we seek YESS members that would like to help with:
Lead interdisciplinary research/paper by YESS community (see previous publications here) (expected workload: 8-10hrs per month).
Initiate and develop activities to foster scientific exchange among YESS community members (e.g. YESS science tweetfeed) (expected workload: 3-4hrs per month).
Help to develop activities to elevate the scientific contributions by ECRs to global research programmes (e.g. World Climate Research Programme, World Weather Research Programme, Global Atmosphere Watch, Future Earth, Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change) (expected workload: 4-6hrs per month).
